Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), Pune, established in 1983, is one of Maharashtra’s premier private engineering institutes. It is an autonomous institution affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University and accredited with an NAAC “A++” Grade. The institute is also approved by AICTE. In the NIRF 2023 rankings, VIT Pune was placed in the 151st position under the Engineering category.

VIT Pune offers a range of programs including B.Tech, B.Tech (Lateral Entry), M.Tech, Ph.D., and Piping Engineering. The B.Tech program is the most sought-after course at the institute. Admission to the B.Tech program is based on MHT CET scores for Maharashtra State Quota seats, while All India Quota seats are filled through JEE Main scores.

The VIT Pune Placement drive for 2023–24 is currently underway. So far, the highest package offered has been INR 51 LPA for a student from Computer Science Engineering (CSE). The average package across all branches stands at INR 9.72 LPA, while the average for CSE specifically is INR 12.18 LPA. VIT Pune Placements 2024

As per a brief released by VIT Pune for Placements 2023, a total of 212+ students have received job offers that include 14 PPOs (Pre-placement offers). The highest domestic package received by VIT Pune students stood at INR 44 LPA, where the average package was INR 6.7 LPA. Phase 1 of VIT Pune placements did not witness any international offers. Top recruiters on campus included Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Adobe, Infosys, and many more.

VIT Pune Campus Life A typical day in the life of a VIT Pune student starts at 8 AM by waking up, having breakfast in a hostel mess, and going to classes. As per Dr. R. M. Jalnekar, the director of VIT Pune, the environment of VIT Campus is very conducive, supportive, and collaborative. The daily life of VIT Pune students is include daily lectures, labs, projects, workshops, and assignments. VIT Pune is one of the few institutes with an Innovation and Incubation Centre of its own along with the Entrepreneurship Cell.

Riya Sharma, a BTech Computer Engineering student at VIT Pune says, “The campus life is amazing. It provides ample opportunities and the size of 30 acres adds to the beauty. There are two major fests taking place every year and several other departmental fests. The sports facilities are also good and there are many events organized by the Sports Council. There are many clubs and you can easily join the club of your interest.”

When asked about the hostel facilities in VIT Pune, Rohan Patel, a VIT Pune BTech Mechanical Engineering student says, “Rooms are single, double, and triple occupancy. For 3 people, we have 3 cupboards, 3 tables, 3 chairs, 3 beds, 1 mirror, 3 small shelves. The mess food is decent and there are different menus for different days. We pay the hostel fees at the beginning of the semester and the mess charges are deducted from our smart cards.”

Merit cum Means Scholarship:

Under this scholarship, VIT Pune students’ full fee waiver along with a pocket allowance of INR 500 during the duration of the course. This merit cum means scholarship is available for students who maintain a 7.5 CGPA. To avail of the scholarship, students need to submit a parental income certificate. The parental income of candidates under this scholarship should be below 2.5 Lakhs.

Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Maintenance Allowance:

Under this scholarship, VIT Pune students who are residing in the hostel get an annual allowance of INR 10,000 for their hostel expenses. This scholarship is available for students who belong to the economically weaker sections of the society. To avail of the scholarship, students need to submit a domicile certificate and an income certificate. The parental income of candidates under this scholarship should be below 1 Lakh.

Bharat Ratna Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Yojana:

Under this scholarship, VIT Pune students who belong to the minority communities get an annual scholarship of INR 25,000 for their tuition fees. This scholarship is available for students who have secured at least 50% marks in the previous examination. To avail of the scholarship, students need to submit a minority declaration certificate and a bank account details. The parental income of candidates under this scholarship should be below 6 Lakhs.
